peter-missing-exhibitionPeanut Underground is proud to present artworks by the legendary street artist Peter Missing, founder of the Missing Foundation along side paintings and photos by collaborators Surreal Hazard (Cyril Mazard) and El Grace.
Peter Missing has been painting for the past 30 years and has works in over 30 museums in the U.S. and Europe including The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Getty Institute, and the Stadt Museum in Berlin. Until October 2011 Pete had his gallery, Conto Gallery in Kunsthaus Tacheles in Berlin. His symbol, an upside down martini glass with three strikes crossed out, means "party's over". The symbol used to be spotted all
over the Lower East Side. It was often accompanied by anti-landlord, anti-gentrification, antipolice brutality, anti-corporations, and pro-environment slogans.
Cyril Mazard was born in Paris France and moved to New York in 1976 and has exhibited his paintings drawings and books internationally. "As we become ever more comfortable in our free fall for all I am left to go as far as to politely show you other wise. In my recent work I explore the
relationship we share with the other living species on this planet.
El Grace was born in the Florida Keys and is a raising artist specializing in Abstract Documentation photography. Focused on the energy of the streets and lucid human essences. Her work captures what occurs on multiple dimensions within a single moment, and translating the gift of lucid attentiveness through black and white stills, in hopes of opening minds and eyes to the multifaceted reality that exists around all of us at all times.
